Our Pharmacy
Newton Pharmacy is different to a standard "high-street" pharmacy in that we are a distance selling pharmacy. This means that we dispense prescriptions and deliver them direct to your door. No more travelling to the pharmacy or standing in queues, making it easier to get your medication when you're not feeling well or just want to stay in the warm!

This is particularly helpful to those who struggle to get out or have restricted access to high street pharmacies, for example have difficulty walking/standing.
There is no physical access to the public, however we can be contacted via telephone or email, using the details found on our 'contact us' page.

We work in partnership with your GP to ensure you're getting the medication best suited to you.
Our Pharmacists check your prescriptions for clinical suitability, so, if we get your prescription and something doesn't seem quite right, we will contact your GP just to make sure. Of course, your GP checks this before prescribing anything so it is highly unlikely there is an issue but patient safety is our number one priority here at Newton Pharmacy, so you can rest assured you are in good hands!
FAQs
Newton Pharmacy is an NHS Distance Selling Pharmacy, supplying medicines to anyone in England. We specialise in pouches, but also dispense original packs. As a distance selling pharmacy, everything we do is remote, so when we fill your prescription, we will deliver it to you instead of you coming to collect it from us.
A distance selling pharmacy, or DSP, is a pharmacy just like a high street pharmacy, however, we do everything remotely. This means, instead of you coming to collect your prescriptions, we will deliver them to you.
We don't sell pharmacy medicines, however we do offer advice about pharmacy medicines for common ailments, such as coughs and colds, painkillers and children's medicines. You can talk to our Pharmacist and they can signpost you to the best place for the service you need or advise you on a suitable and safe over the counter medication and where you can buy these from.
At present we do not offer the "Pharmacy First" NHS service.
Unfortunately, we are unable to order prescriptions from the GP, so you will need to continue ordering direct from your GP as you currently do.
Unfortunately, because we are a Distance Selling Pharmacy (DSP), we don't have a way for people to collect from us. All of our communication is done online or by phone and all dispensed items are delivered to our customers.
Again, as above, as we are a DSP, we do not have public access. You can however post it to us at the address on our 'Contact Us' page. We also dispense private prescriptions, which can be sent to us in the same way.
When you order your prescription from your GP surgery, tell them you would like to nominate us as your pharmacy, or you can update your nominated pharmacy on your prescription ordering app or website. Once your prescriber authorises your prescription, it will then come to us via EPS.
If you need something the same day, give us a call and we will give you the token number of the prescription you need and we will send it back to the NHS 'spine', which will enable any other pharmacy to dispense the prescription for you. They will need the token number we give you to access your prescription, so please remember to take it with you.
EPS, or Electronic Prescription Service, is the system we now use to get your prescriptions. Where you used to get given a paper or 'green' prescription by your doctor to take to your pharmacy, most prescriptions are now sent via EPS making it quicker and less hassle for you and us.
Electronic Repeat Dispensing, or eRD, is when your prescriber authorises a 'batch' of repeat prescriptions, for up to 12 months. These are saved securely on the NHS system and are ready for the pharmacy to retrieve as and when needed. This saves you having to order your prescription every month from your GP practice. Please be aware that this service is mainly for people who are on regular medication and are not likely to need changes during the eRD period. Please contact your GP surgery for further information about how to sign up for eRD.
